Assessments and interventions

Every person is unique, so a holistic and individual approach is always used to assess and treat children and young people. Using both standardised and non-standardised assessments, I work closely with both the young person, family and other professionals involved to assess and treat a variety of physical, sensory and neurological conditions.

Areas of difficulty may include:

  • Fine Motor skills
  • Handwriting
  • Gross motor skills & coordination
  • Sensory Processing difficulties
  • Self help/ care skills
  • Self esteem / anxiety and consequent impact on presentation
  • Dysregulation and difficulty managing emotions

Screening and assessments can include :

* gross and fine motor skills

* Developmental Coordination Disorder (DCD/Dyspraxia)

* Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD/ADHD)

* Autistic  Spectrum Disorder

* Neurological conditions

* Sensory processing differences

* mental health difficulties such as anxiety

REPORTS : A lot of my work also involves preparing reports for EHCP's and attending mediation, tribunal meetings etc.., as well as reports for Social Care or to support grant application referrals for specialist equipment and housing.  I also support applications for DLA/PIP as a full Occupational Therapy report covers all aspects of daily living
